In The Beginning There Was The Wort
The Bockbeer has a long history - some say it was even the first Lager brought to Bavaria by tricking the brewmaster away from the then overwhelmingly successful Einbecker Brewery in Northern Germany. They say that the name "Bock" (lit. BillyGoat) is the spelling of the City of Einbeck's name in the Southern German Dialekt.
There are other strong beers that came from the South, helping the Italian monks to survive the fastening days in the beginning of the year with style. And fight their demons.
Demons! This one here is our first and we are so proud of this first lager turning out fantastic, that there was no other choice than naming it after the capital sin of "Pride."
The demon related to it is Lucifer himself. Some say that in the middle-ages he let the clerics believe that they were standing above all other being. Who would believe that??
